Bophut Shopping

What to Buy and Where to Shop in Bophut

The best way to truly appreciate the many souvenir shops in Bophut is to park outside the Fisherman's Village and stroll up and down the main street that contains the shops and restaurants. Take your time – there are plenty of places to stop for a coffee or a beer break.

As you head down to the pier there are several T-shirt, sandals and handcrafted souvenir shops but once on the main street you will see fashionable boutiques such as Saona Collection (former Samana Boutique) or Amrapalli which come up from the lot. Bophut is not a shopaholics destination (nearby Chaweng has more dedicated shopping options) yet hosts enough small stores to satisfy the average shopper.

Fisherman’s Village Walking Street

Fisherman’s Village Walking Street is a lively and colourful market held every Friday from 17:00 to 22:00 along the main street in Bophut’s Fisherman’s Village. The ‘walking street phenomena’ has gained ground in Thailand in the past five years and most of the main touristic destinations have a weekly walking street event nowadays.

Bophut’s has all the ingredients that made this kind of open-air markets so popular: dozens of stalls selling what seems to be an unlimited list of items from clothing to handcrafted souvenirs to accessories of all sorts, as well as an amazing choice of local street food (it wouldn’t be a market in Thailand without readymade snacks) and even some cocktail stalls! Join this animated and busy weekly market if you are lucky enough to be around Bophut on a Friday, you won’t be disappointed.
