Samui Pier Restaurant belongs to Samui Pier Beach Front Resort, a charming compact boutique resort located in Bangrak (between Bophut and Big Buddha) in the northern area of Samui Island. Built in a contemporary style with a Mediterranean twist, the resort and restaurant features large open-air spaces with a manicured lawn, coconut trees and great views to Koh Phangan; facing west, it is also a great place to enjoy the sunset while having a drink with friends.
Samui Pier Restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining areas. Under Italian management, Samui Pier Resort’s restaurant has strong Mediterranean influences – pasta and pizza, yet also serves a wide range of delicious Thai and international dishes at affordable prices. It is a nice and clean place to stop by for lunch or dinner while exploring Koh Samui.
Samui Pier Restaurant is, as its name implies, located right next to a pier made of two long jetties from which departs many sightseeing excursions – mostly – by speedboat around Samui Island (Angthong Adventure Tour starts a few metres away from the resort for instance). Dressed in white, blue and green, the restaurant is open sided and features a large terrace furnished with comfortable Thai vintage wooden benches, chairs and tables sheltered from the sun by large white parasols.
The indoor dining area also hosts the resort lobby including a pool table, and a cosy library in which guests can find books and magazines. The atmosphere of the venue is really cool and definitely boasts a hassle-free vacation feel. The resort’s swimming pool is just in front of the restaurant and guests can enjoy a dip before or after meal.
As already mentioned, Samui Pier Restaurant blends Mediterranean (mostly Italian), Thai and international styles, and its menu presents an original ‘Breakfasts of the World’ section in which guests can find a choice between American, English, French, Mediterranean, Russian, Thai, Mexican, and Samui Pier breakfasts (priced between 180 and 240 baht).
Amongst the 152 dishes available in the menu, here are a few favourites which deserve to be sampled:
- Deep fried calamari in bread crumb with tartar sauce at 180 baht
- Baked potato filled with tuna & mozzarella cheese at 180 baht
- Duck breast in Samui honey & balsamic vinegar at 280 baht
- Thai fried noodle with king prawns at 320 baht
- All dishes in the ‘Catch of the Day’ section (red & white snapper, barracuda, squid, king prawns, and more) at 290 baht
- Tom kha kai (chicken in coconut sauce) at 160 baht
You can’t go wrong at Samui Pier Restaurant – food is fresh and prepared with quality ingredients; the venue is unpretentious yet stylish with a southern Europe touch; and the settings are just great for a hearty meal with family or friends.
