Koh Phangan Beaches and Towns
Thong Sala, Haad Rin, Haad Yao, Chaloklum, Thong Nai Pan
The first image that springs to mind when Koh Phangan is mentioned is the thump of amplified bass lines and the flashing lights and dancing bodies of the Full Moon Party. But Koh Phangan by day is a veritable sanctuary of the senses and its beaches are simply unrivalled in the Gulf of Thailand for their tranquility and sheer stunning beauty.
The clichéd but nevertheless idyllic picture of the south of Thailand – nodding palms along white-sand beaches under a cobalt-blue sky – most certainly and happily applies to Phangan, but at some beaches more so than others: Ao Thong Nai Pan Noi & Yai, along with Haad Salad are not only out of the way but are well worth going out of your way for while Haan Rin Nok and Haad Rin Nai are both attractive but built up with the Gulf’s biggest concentration of clubs and bars, proving that some can have their cake and eat it too. Exploring the island’s beaches is a supremely rewarding pastime so try to put plenty of time aside for this and take a camera along.Read More
