Part of Haad Yao View Resort, Happy Elephant deals in seafood. Reached by a wooden walkway over granite rocks at the north end of the beach, this atmospheric place is ideally located to appreciate all things marine, whether views, food or atmosphere. Of course, being a resort restaurant prices will be higher than its neighbours.

Chok Dee

One thing you’re guaranteed at Chock Dee (meaning ‘good luck’) is a wonderful sunset view. Happily, there’s a lot more going for it. Lively music, beach and terrace dining, fresh food and a lovely beach ambiance with an intimate interior are some of Chock Dee’s extra plus points.

Long Bay

0

Fairly typical of a Haad Yao restaurant setup, Long Bay has a mix of plastic chairs and bamboo tables with several raised platforms on which to sprawl. Mainly seafood with some healthy options, Long Beach has quite a varied menu of both Thai and international dishes and a good drinks list with a central bar to help that party along. Like its neighbours, Long Beach enjoys great sunsets.

  • Opening Hours: 10:00 – late
  • Location: Central Haad Yao Beach
  • Cuisine: Thai & International

Haad Yao Restaurant

0

A dive resort, Haad Yao Bungalows’ restaurant is right on the beach and is a pretty big affair with lots of bamboo and plastic seating and tables. It gets quite busy during high season but during low season you’ll have the place if not exactly to yourself then extremely peaceful. The international menu results in some imaginative twists on the chef’s part but you can’t go wrong in ordering Thai here.

  • Opening Hours: 07:00 – late
  • Location: Haad Yao Beach
  • Cuisine: Thai & International

House People

0

Opened in January 2015 on the coastal road of Haad Yao, House People rapidly gained popularity due to the quality of its Thai fusion cuisine, international dishes and for its really cool atmosphere and the friendliness of the team. Being housed under a tall thatched roof, House People is a rather large venue that offers plenty of place. It has an undeniable Thai vibe, with its unpretentious décor and laid-back mood. Price-wise, it’s really affordable as most dishes are rated under 200 baht. You’ll also appreciate the two cocktails for the price of one, during the early evening happy hour.

  • Opening Hours: 15:30 – 23:00
  • Location: On the main road in the central area of Haad Yao, right after the 7-Eleven when heading north

Haad Salad Restaurants

Jumpahom Restaurant

Serving genuine Thai cuisine at rack rates (most dishes are around 80 baht), Jumpahom Restaurant is a quaint rural-style venue surrounded by vegetation. Located some 200m from Haad Salad Beach, just off the main road, it offers a very pleasant and unpretentious venue featuring foldout triangle cushions, hammocks and low tables on a wooden deck covered with a thatch roof. Very cool indeed.

A Bamboo-and-thatch restaurant right by the waves at Haad Salad, My Way is an attractive restaurant with a wooden terrace, adjacent bar and a good, healthy menu to choose from. On either side are laid-back beach massage setups and the western-facing view is to die for. Featuring whole-meal German bread and other health options, lunching or dining here is a pleasant experience.

Ying Ying’s Kitchen

0

To put it bluntly, the décor of Yin Ying’s Kitchen is quite basic. However, the restaurant doesn’t pretend to play above its league. This simple restaurant exclusively serves genuine Thai cuisine – including vegetarian dishes – prepared with a lot of attention by the kind owner, Ying. She takes care of everything by herself in this modest establishment, and has really made a name for herself with both her smile and delicious cuisine. Do not miss Ying Ying’s Kitchen if you come by Haad Salad; you’ll certainly appreciate the laid-back atmosphere and yummy food.

  • Opening Hours: 10:00 – 22:00
  • Location: On the coastal road along Haad Salad
