Krabi's lovely coastline is fringed with lots of tiny coves, towering headlands, hidden beaches and offshore islands. The most developed beach is at Ao Nang followed by Railey Beach (accessible only by boat) and Klong Muang Beach. Part of the Hat Noppharat - Phi Phi Islands National Park, there are literally hundreds of islands - mostly uninhabited - just off the coast. Still relatively un-commercialised Krabi nevertheless gets quite busy during the peak season (Dec-Jan) so it's best to book accommodation in advance.
Located on the Andaman seaboard, Krabi province is just a three hour drive from Phuket (176 km) on the Andaman coast and a 3 hour drive from Koh Samui (via mainland Surathani (211 km from Krabi) on the opposite Gulf of Siam coast.
No direct flights operate to date between Koh Samui and Krabi, but may do so in the future.
From Bangkok - Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, Andaman Air, Phuket Airlines or PB Air and Silk Air fly to the new Krabi Airport. Schedules vary with the season..(More)
