Barrio Latino in Koh Samui

Lamai Restaurants & Dining

This warm, friendly establishment brings a slice of exotic Latin America to Lamai Beach. It serves up zesty tapas, Mexican and Latino specialities, seasoned with mostly imported spices and ingredients to stay true to the original flavours.

The extensive menu ranges from classic burritos, tacos and fajitas to hearty cochinita pibil and chili con carne. Enjoy your meal listening to upbeat flamenco and salsa tunes and forget – for a short while – that you are actually in Thailand.

With a mustard-yellow theme running throughout, El Barrio Latina is flanked by a bar selling cocktails, wine and beers and is (thankfully) almost TV free plus features live music on Saturdays.

Portions are genuine and generous; salsa pollo a la tequila is an out-and-out winner along with fajitas with chicken, rice, shredded Cheddar (not so Mexican), salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. Be careful about over-ordering here – this is heavy food and the chef is generous! Thai food also available.
