    Nightlife in Chaweng

Bar Ice Samui is certainly true to its name. With chiller units set to -7°C in the ice-walled main bar, it creates a temperature change of about 40°C from one side of the airlock-like entrance to the other. Located a relatively short walk from the back of Soi Green Mango, by Chaweng Lake, it has loads of fun features and events, making it one of the most lively bars in Chaweng.

There are three sections to the bar, each with different temperatures: an outdoor beer garden, an air-conditioned indoor bar and the ice bar itself. Those braving the cold can choose from thick winter ponchos or fancy dress outfits to liven things up. There are also hats and gloves, the latter of which is a must if you’re going to try one of the huge choice of flavoured vodka shots (including Werther’s Original, Mars Bar and Toblerone flavours – all 100 baht) served in ice glasses.

  • The choice of cocktails is just as eclectic (though not served in ice because it would have melted before you finished the drink!), including the Bangkok Blaster (vodka, Malibu and pineapple juice) and Brian the Ladyboy (vodka, Crème de Bananes, orange juice and pineapple juice), all for 220 baht. A regular beer, if you want to be boring, is 120 baht or six for 600 baht.

Novelties like sitting on an ice throne or in an ice tuk tuk help to create a really fun atmosphere while events like the weekly beer pong tournament (with a 5,000 baht top prize) keeps things lively, making Bar Ice Samui a great party spot.
