The Bophut shopping scene reflects the laid-back feel of this popular destination in the north of Samui Island: Bophut’s Bohemian touch is can be seen in the small shops available in and around its active centre: Fisherman’s Village; there are no large soulless megastores here (one has to go to Chaweng for this kind of shopping), only small shops and minimarts (the obvious 7-Eleven and Family Mart) are available in the area.
Our Top 3 Shopping in Bophut brings together the few shops that stand out from the lot. The shops and shopping opportunities are plenty enough in Bophut to satisfy visitors in between two sunbathing sessions on the beach and vacationers looking for original handcrafted souvenirs to bring back home; check them out below…

Fisherman’s Village Walking Street is a lively and colourful market held every Friday from 17:00 to 22:00 along the main street in Bophut’s Fisherman’s Village. The ‘walking street phenomena’ has gained ground in Thailand in the past five years and most of the main touristic destinations have a weekly walking street event nowadays.
Bophut’s has all the ingredients that made this kind of open-air markets so popular: dozens of stalls selling what seems to be an unlimited list of items from clothing to handcrafted souvenirs to accessories of all sorts, as well as an amazing choice of local street food (it wouldn’t be a market in Thailand without readymade snacks) and even some cocktail stalls! Join this animated and busy weekly market if you are lucky enough to be around Bophut on a Friday, you won’t be disappointed. Read More...

Elephant Walk Koh Samui

Elephant Walk Koh Samui is a small night market which opens every night in Fisherman’s Village. Located just a short walk (across the road) from the Happy Elephant Restaurant, it is a fun and quirky shopping experience in Bophut and a good place to find some interesting souvenirs. The titular walk is not a particularly long one as this little shopping precinct stretches only about 30 metres back from Bophut Beach Road. Most of that space is a gravelled central courtyard with cute elephant statues painted as comic book characters, as well as seating for dining and relaxing and small tables made from empty oil drums painted with national flags.
