Soi Green Mango is the equivalent of Phuket’s Soi Bangla or Bangkok’s Patpong. It’s loud, it’s brash, and surprisingly it’s pretty compact, so much so that before you know it you’ve walked through it to the other side. Bar after bar features scantily clad (almost always in black) bar girls sing-a-songing ‘welcome, come inside’ as you drift by. There are several dance joints here, too, where you can get your moves in without bar girls lunging for you. Many of the beer bars are so similar that you’d be forgiven for mixing them up if you head back for a second night of fun here. Read More...

Soi Reggae is made of an alignment of small beer bars with the usual cast of friendly girls, not very original music, and a pool table here and there. The band covering Bob Marley’s classics and other pop/rock favourites leaves after midnight to be replaced by DJs playing techno music. Read More...

On Street Bar is certainly the most original venue in Chaweng’s tremendous nightlife scene; this tiny venue set on a small piece of waste ground right next to the entrance of KC Beach Club Hotel is made of corrugated iron and recycled wood painted in bright colours – without them, its one metre wide façade would be totally unnoticed as the stall/shop next door sells vivid paper chandeliers. Made with any old things and featuring recovered furnishing and décor set on the open ground, On Street Bar is a very popular water hole, a proof that the trendiness of a venue is not always related to the amount of money invested to make it shiny and attractive.

Opened in 2008, Bar Ice Samui is surely one of the coolest places in town – in more ways than one: the walls, bar, sculptures and seats are made from Canadian ice and are permanent fixtures. And no, it's not the usual tiny, fridge-like arrangement that many ice bars go for; Bar Ice is big enough to hold large ice sculptures and has separate rooms. The chilliest is kept at -7 degrees, lit by an atmospheric LED lighting system with a full colour spectrum. Read More...

To the side is a salad bar to balance out the all-you-can-eat fixed price meats.
